School Grounds- Access and Security
Plasnewydd Primary is fortunate to be on mostly level ground, providing
excellent accessibility throughout the
school and grounds. The school grounds
can be accessed via five entrances;
pedestrian entrances via Castle street and
Plasnewydd Street (open at the start and
end of the school day) and the main public
entrance via telecom entrance at the
front of the school. Ramps provide access
to all buildings. Pupils should not be on the
school grounds before 8:40am unless they are with their parents.
From the start of the school day, the side entrances are both locked and the
main entrance is only accessible by coded entrance and video controlled
remote release. All visitors arrive at school through the main entrance and
report to the main office. All visitors sign in to the school and are given visitor
passes for their time at the school. This ensures that all members of the
school community recognise that such visitors are authorised. All school staff
have ID-badges. Families and visitors are reminded to always be considerate
to residents, pedestrians and other road users when parking to visit the
school. There is ample parking in the multi-storey carpark by the shops.
School Grounds- Security Arrangements
Access to the school is through the main
entrance, where visitors must sign in at
the office and wear a visitor pass for
security.
Side entrances are locked, and the main
entrance is controlled by a secure
system.
Although teachers are available to see parents at the start of the day, our
priority has to be the welfare of the pupils and so parents are asked to
refrain from seeing their class teacher at this time, unless it is an emergency.
Parents who wish to discuss their child at any time can make an appointment to
see the Headteacher or class teacher. Unless there is an emergency parents
should request an appointment in advance.
Staff wear ID badges, and visitors are reminded to park considerately, with
ample parking available at the nearby multi-storey car park.
