Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE)
RSE forms part of the Health and Well-being curriculum in our school. Our school policy for
sex education focuses on growing up and personal relationships. A health professional visits the
school to give a talk on puberty to year 5 and 6 pupils. Parents will be kept informed of any
sensitive issues. This became a statutory part of the Curriculum for Wales in 2022.

Charging for other activities
As part of pupils9 learning experiences educational visits are made to such places as St. Fagans,
Techniquest, Cardiff Castle, Porthcawl, museums and other places of interest. The vast
majority of these trips are organised so as to contribute towards the pupils9 curricular
experiences.
As such, many of these trips are part-subsidised out of school funds. Usually, a voluntary
nominal contribution is requested from parents towards the cost of transport which is needed
for these trips and the visits can only go ahead if the cost is met from these payments.
We always try to keep these costs to an absolute minimum and ensure that parents are given
plenty of notice. Where any visits are more costly we provide parents with the option to pay in
instalments should they so wish. Any parents experiencing financial difficulties in this respect
are asked to contact the Headteacher and we will do our best to help.
Home-School Tasks/Homework
Homework and school tasks are provided for all pupils to
support and consolidate their learning in school. Homework may
take a variety of forms, including rote learning of tables or
spellings, worksheets, mini-projects, making activities or
research. Work is set at the discretion of the class teacher.
Reading books should be taken home at least once per week. Reading is one of the most
important skills a child can learn. We encourage parents to take time to talk with their children
and help them to enjoy reading by taking part in the activity themselves. To this effect parents
are expected to read to, and with, their child daily.
Homework should involve parents in the education of their children and show children
that home, the environment, local amenities and other people can provide information
to enrich their life and education. Generally, we expect most homework to be carried
out with a degree of parental support and guidance. Please do not hesitate to contact the school
if you have any concerns regarding your child9s homework 3 we will be happy to discuss it with
you.
